Strategic communication is playing an increasingly important role in how tourism destinations position themselves, build relationships and create new opportunities in international markets.

In this context, Elsa Petersen, LatamPR Argentina Director, was interviewed by Ladevi Medios y Soluciones to discuss the growing interest in the Caribbean among Latin American markets, the evolution of tourism communication and the opportunities emerging from stronger connections between both regions.

During the interview, Elsa shared her perspective based on her experience leading EM Marketing & Communication, an agency specializing in marketing and communications for tourism destinations and industry-related organizations.

A More Connected Caribbean and Latin America

The relationship between the Caribbean and Latin America continues to expand, creating opportunities to develop more targeted communication strategies for each market.

As part of this expansion, EM Marketing & Communication has added Anguilla to its portfolio of destination representations in South America, alongside its ongoing work with different Caribbean destinations.

For Elsa, understanding the particularities of each Latin American market is essential. While the region shares common cultural characteristics, every country has its own cultural, commercial and consumer dynamics that need to be considered when developing a positioning strategy.

Communicating Destinations Beyond Sun and Beach

Caribbean tourism is also evolving in the way its destinations and experiences are communicated.

Culture, gastronomy, nature, experiences, sustainability and lifestyle are becoming increasingly important elements of destination storytelling, helping showcase the diversity of the Caribbean and connect with new profiles of Latin American travelers.

This evolution creates an opportunity to develop communication strategies that go beyond visibility and focus on building meaningful and sustainable connections between destinations, tourism professionals, media and markets.

Strengthening Regional Connections

Another topic highlighted in the interview was the CTO Summit Latam, an initiative aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Caribbean and Latin America while creating new opportunities for tourism professionals from both regions to connect.

The first edition of the event will take place in Saint Lucia on May 5–6, 2027, bringing together professionals and stakeholders from Latin American and Caribbean markets.

For LatamPR, initiatives such as this represent an opportunity to continue strengthening regional communication and collaboration, connecting markets through knowledge, relationships and strategic thinking.

Communication That Connects
At LatamPR, we are proud to see our Argentina Director, Elsa Petersen, invited by a specialized media outlet such as Ladevi to share her experience and perspective on the evolution of the regional tourism market.

Her participation also reflects one of the principles behind our work: strategic communication is not only about delivering messages. It is about understanding contexts, creating connections and building relationships across markets and cultures.

We thank Ladevi Medios y Soluciones and journalist Mateo Casal for the interview and for highlighting the growing opportunities to connect the Caribbean and Latin America.
