At LatamPR Academy, we launched a new continuous training space designed to strengthen the capabilities of our teams across the region and broaden our strategic outlook in the face of today’s challenges in corporate communication.
In our first session, we had the participation of Rafael Garate, an expert in corporate reputation, crisis management, and business development, who delivered a masterclass focused on strategic reputation management in digital environments. With a distinguished background as a consultant for brands, leaders, and organizations throughout Latin America, Rafael shared key tools and insights based on high-impact real cases. The session brought together LatamPR collaborators from more than 18 countries, reaffirming our commitment to collective learning and regional thinking.
One of the main focuses was understanding that reputation is no longer built solely through traditional media, but happens in real time across social networks, search engines, and multiple digital platforms. This new reality demands that companies and organizations be prepared to respond quickly and strategically.
During the session, the importance of implementing social listening protocols was emphasized to anticipate potential crises and define timely responses. Tools such as Twitter, Google Alerts, and Hootsuite were highlighted as essential for monitoring trends and early detection of reputational threats.
The conversation also addressed controversial strategies in online reputation management, such as the use of fake account farms or paid influencers, which, while effective in certain contexts, raise ethical dilemmas and risks related to platform policy compliance. Additionally, campaigns that pushed the boundaries of controversy were discussed, such as Sidney Sweeney’s campaign with American Eagle, which generated both visibility and public debate.
Among the most valuable recommendations was the importance of creating search engine–optimized content as an effective way to displace negative information following a crisis and rebuild a brand or organization’s public narrative.
This first training day marks the beginning of a journey that strengthens our commitment to responsible, strategic communication deeply connected with the realities of Latin America. LatamPR Academy is the space where we nurture our consultative thinking and where every learning enhances our impact in the region.
